Useful things to know
Your building stone questions, answered.
Practical answers to help you plan your stonework, understand quantities and arrange delivery. Explore the full range and choosing advice in our free Building Stone Brochure.
Can I use building stone for a new house or garden wall?
Yes. Our bagged natural building stone is supplied for new homes, house facades, entrances, boundary walls and garden features. Agree the stone depth and wall construction with your builder or stonemason as part of planning your project.
What is the difference between building stone and stone cladding?
Building stone uses deeper pieces laid in mortar to form the stone face of a wall. Our 40 mm natural stone cladding is a thinner facing fixed to a suitable prepared wall.
If you are updating an existing house or block wall, explore our natural stone cladding. Your builder or installer can confirm which approach suits your wall.
How is your building stone supplied?
We supply building stone in bulk bags for your builder or stonemason to lay. Your quotation will confirm the selected stone, depth, quantity and delivery arrangements for your project.
How much building stone does a bag cover?
Coverage depends on the chosen stone, its depth and the laying style. Send us your plans or approximate wall area, along with the stone you are considering, so we can advise on bag quantities.
Include details of doors, windows, external corners and pillars so these can be allowed for when calculating your requirements.
Can you supply stone for corners and entrance pillars?
Yes. We can quote for corner stones, also known as quoins, alongside your building stone. Tell us about external corners, entrance pillars and openings so suitable stone can be included in your quotation.
Do you deliver building stone across Northern Ireland, Ireland and the UK?
Yes. Based in Newry, we supply building stone across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Devon, Cornwall and the wider UK.
Delivery costs, timing and unloading arrangements are confirmed for your location and order. Include your postcode or Eircode and tell us about any narrow entrances, restricted access or unloading requirements when requesting a quotation.
Can I see samples or view the stone before ordering?
Contact us with your preferred options to discuss current sample or viewing arrangements before ordering. Natural stone varies in colour and texture, and photographs should be used as a guide to the overall appearance.
How do I get a price for building stone?
Send your preferred stone, plans or approximate wall area, required stone depth if known, and delivery postcode or Eircode. Include any corners, pillars and your expected timescale.
We can then prepare a quotation for the stone and delivery. If you are still choosing your stone, our free Building Stone Brochure is a useful starting point.
